Gyrosystem was commissioned to develop a collection of scientific algorithms, intended to process ERS-1 Satellite sea-surface height data in order to produce a geographical sea-surface contour map or 'GEOID'. 

The entire system was programmed in Sun 'C' to run on a target Sun Microsystems SPARC Workstation running UNIX.
